Those on the Electoral Roll may make proposals and vote. This is real grass roots democracy. "Set in picturesque parkland with beautiful gardens, water gardens and superb views it is a perfect setting for rare animals. All seven endangered pig breeds are here together with 13 breeds of sheep, 5 equines, 3 different goat breeds and much more. The poultry unit has 18 types of chicken and 3 sorts of turkey, and Rabbit World has over 50 different breeds - the largest collection in the world. There is a woodland walk, picnic and play area, shop and café. Also see the famous Pork Stakes pig race held at weekends and school holidays until September. Come and see for yourself why we're twice winner of "Best Family Attraction in Wiltshire." The farmhouse has recently been extended and now houses a youth hostel, which forms part of the Youth Hostels Association network. Situated on the edge of the village of Cholderton and part of a rare breeds farm, this bunkhouse offers excellent facilities. During your stay you will have free access to the farm where there are pygmy goats, lambs, piglets, chicks, rabbits and an Iron Age farm. Stonehenge and Woodhenge are close by as is the city of Salisbury. There is a play barn suitable for children up to aged 13, as well as the animals themselves to see! |

An excavation was conducted at the Rare Breeds Farm during 2002 to investigate a possible Iron Age farmstead. More information can be found at http://www.contextone.co.uk/cap.html |
